Our Services

Please contact us about how our comprehensive physiotherapy services can be of therapeutic benefit to you, or someone in your care. We treat a wide range of conditions across the lifespan for all referral types and presentations.

We have outlined some of our services in more detail below, but for any other services or further information, please contact us and we can discuss in as much detail as you wish.

Orthotic Prescription

Physiotherapists often recommend orthotics and footwear to assist with structural and functional aspects of the neuromuscular and skeletal systems. The prescription of orthotics involves a detailed analysis of movement and lower limb assessment. This helps to identity any abnormalities.

We work with local orthotists to ensure the quality manufacture and efficacy of custom made orthotics.

These may include:

  • Ankle Foot Orthosis (AFO’s) and footwear combinations

  • Supra-Malleolar Orthotics (SMO’s)

  • ICB Medical orthotics (in-shoe)

  • Internal modifications to current footwear

We employ the OSKAR principles of designing, aligning and tuning an AFO and footwear to optimise performance.

OSKAR Orthotic Prescription

OSKAR (Optimal Segment and Kinematics and Alignment approach to Rehabilitation) orthotic prescription is a specific type of orthotic treatment plan designed to address malalignment issues related to lower limb conditions in individuals, particularly children, with conditions like cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, or spina bifida.

OSKAR aims to improve movement, stability, and gait by addressing specific alignment and kinematic issues in the lower limb. through the use of ankle-foot orthoses (AFOs) and other orthotic devices.

We work with local orthotists to ensure the quality manufacture and efficacy of custom made orthotics.

TASES

TASES (Task Specific Electrical Stimulation) involves providing electrical stimulation to various muscle groups to target improved timing, alignment and engagement geared to improve function of that particular muscle group during a functional activity.

TASES helps children activate muscles in proper alignment during functional tasks to help them progress toward goals with a more targeted intervention. There are many benefits to electrical stimulation including improving gait, awareness, strength, alignment, contractibility, and function while helping to improve range of motion and decrease tone.

NISE-STIM

Non-invasive and safe spinal electrical stimulation, or NISE-STIM is a therapy developed in 2017 by Gerti Motavalli (PT, MPT) along with Dr. Gad Alon, an internationally recognized researcher in electrical stimulation. It uses safe electrical currents delivered through surface electrodes placed over the spinal cord and specific areas of the body to support neuroplasticity and neuromodulation. It can be tailored to each child's specific needs to stimulate muscle movement, enhance neuromuscular coordination, and improve motor, sensory and autonomic functions.

Gait Training

Gait training focuses on improving a child’s walking ability. It involves varied forms of intervention including treadmill training and TASES to improve speed, endurance and motor function.

Identifying and interpreting gait abnormalities as well as targeting and planning intervention for improved gait efficiency and function are imperative in ensuring treatments target the neurological and musculoskeletal systems in appropriate alignment. This aims to improve mobility and may include recommendations for orthotics, footwear, equipment and/or shoe modifications to optimise gait.

TASES is often used in conjunction with gait training to improve motor control and awareness throughout the gait cycle.

Complex Equipment Prescription

Complex equipment prescription may be needed when an individual requires assistive technology that goes beyond standard options due to specific needs and limitations.

This includes specialised wheelchairs with tailored features, powered mobility devices, walkers, standing frames or other equipment requiring custom positioning and seating solutions to maximise function, mobility, accessibility and comfort.

A detailed prescription is crucial for ensuring equipment is appropriate for the individual's condition, presentation, lifestyle, and the environments they will navigate.

We work with trusted providers to ensure the equipment you need is tailored specifically for you. We ensure the equipment you are prescribed and delivered is empowering, effective in your treatment and is just right for you and your care team.

Funding.

We accept referrals from Medicare, NDIS (self or plan managed)

and Private Health Insurance.

Please note, we do not offer HiCaps for rebates.

Aquatic therapy.

Aquatic physiotherapy (also known as hydrotherapy) is a specialised form of physiotherapy delivered in a warm water environment. It offers a fun, engaging, and therapeutic way to support children and young adults of all ages and abilities in developing their movement skills, mobility, strength, balance and confidence. The unique qualities of water, resistance, buoyancy, and warmth, provide freedom of movement and ideal setting for therapy. We use aquatic physiotherapy as part of a holistic approach to help children and young people to reach their developmental, physical and functional goals.
